A proven fact! Uneducated people are easier to lead.People that are unable to read or comprehend what they read are also easy to lead. I believe the government, through their various educational programs, have been systematically dumbing down the American people in the areas of problems of democracy & American history. Without an education in these areas the people have no knowledge of the founding of our country & what the constitution stands for & why it was written. The also have no education on how a democracy is supposed to work. We think we are pretty cleaver with our snide remarks about others that we disagree with instead of weighing what they say & comparing that to what we believe. The powerful in this country love the idea of us fighting among ourselves. It distracts from the scrutiny of their agenda, much as the entertainment news media repeats over & over about some silly statement a candidate for president says(on either side). While something that is important is mentioned but a few times.

Well, your spelling is a prime example of our system of education at work! Just kidding! I know exactly what your talking about here I think. We are pushing "free" thinking over "critical thinking". The teachers unions and the liberals in charge have no interest in teaching our youth to learn, but instead do everything possible to fill them full of bad science and even worse math. The only benifit of the public education system in this country is that it allows the prior generation of public education failures access to free day care and potentially a career in public education. With pay and benifit packages that far exeed all but the most lucrative professions in the private field, and a set of rules designed solely for the benifit of public educators. Yet all we hear is how poorly teachers are paid. Amazingly, children are born, and remain until about fourth grade, more intelligent than they are from that point on once the public schools are allowed to dumb them down. I would name sources, but figure anyone that couldn't graduate from public school with a better than fourth grade reading level would not be able to check anyway. Other industrial nations churn out students that out perform ours for far less money, whether subsidized or not. On top of all the academic advantages in other nations, one cannot help but notice the far lower rates of suicide, assualt, and murder among school age children in other nations. The liberals in America love to point at the availability of guns when discussing this, yet fail to take into account the fact that Canada has a high rate of gun ownership, and less than one tenth of our violent crime rate amongst their youth. The one common factor I find in so many of our problems in this nation is our public schools. I suggest a low interest loan program for qualified individuals interested in starting private schools.

This is for the person called bulabate? Are you joking? Those churches are one of the few places a child can get a quality education for a fair price in this country. Regardless of your religious beliefs you will find that historically the church has done a better job of educating people around the world in the last five hundred years than anyone else. Even if you take into account all the controversy between science and religion, which is innevitable, you still find that the people that made advances contrary to church teaching could not have done so without the excellent education that same church provided them.

Because some people have a philosophy of teaching kids to pass a standardized test rather than teaching them practical knowledge. That's what No Child Left Behind will get ya.

Thank Gaia I don't have kids.

Not sure where you live. My kids are learning a lot and are definitely ahead of where I was at their age. (I now have an advanced degree.)
