Why is it wrong to want to keep our way of life as it is. why is it racist to profess the religion of our country. Why are so many laws being created to silence any thoughts of a national identity. I am an English Protestant, I want Nativity plays, Christmas, Easter eggs, and the way of life my parents enjoyed.

To silence criticism and debate. The politicians (our so called representatives) have over the last 10 years or so sanctioned the invasion of our country. They have also given the European union the authority to make our laws. this without a mandate from the indigenous people. Therefore they have deprived the descendants of our forefathers of their inheritance, a prosperous, independent and stable country. What they've done may well be the right thing for this country. However I don't believe that they had the authority to do it on their own cognisance. I believe this makes them guilty of treason. Unfortunately the people who should rein them in when they start to abuse their power seem to be collaborating with them in trying to destroy the English from within. It seems that we are rapidly reaching the point where it will be a crime to be English.

We've got the same problem in the States. The worst part of it is how people can be so completely out of touch. It's gotten to the point now where Christmas is being taken and turned into this annual secular celebration of money, all in the name of not offending non-Christians. People get fired from their jobs for telling someone to have a Merry Christmas. Can anyone imagine how I'd be treated if I went around telling the muslims in this country how to worship during Ramadan.because I'm offended by the way they do it currently? I'd be run out of the country, but it's okay for some reason to say what you want about Christianity. If the Godless Socialist Hillary wins the election, we'll be 100 times worse off over here. Her and her pals are already making it simple for them to lay the groundwork to turn our country back 8 centuries. I'll take up arms before that happens. http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59005

It hasn't.

You can live your life however you want, as long as you don't hurt others.

Just don't try to force YOUR way on everyone else.

It's called 'freedom' and most people think that's a GOOD thing.

American national identity has never rightly had anything to do with race. There have always been some variety of people here -- the people who got here before the Europeans, English, Scot, French, Spanish, German, later others from the rest of Europe. People dragged from Africa in chains, and used as slave labor from China. The US includes part of Oceana.

National identity has to do with such shared ideas as freedom: to live our own lives, freedom of thought and expression, and the idea that the government should serve the people.

If you hate all of those ideas, you could move to North Korea.

English Protestants make up only a very small part of the population of the U.S. Most of us are, in fact, mixtures of various places of origin.

I'm only part English, Welsh, and Scot. I'm also Irish, French, Danish, and Swiss. But I was born here, as were my parents and their parents.

Are you saying I'm not an American because I'm not pure English?

You can worship and celebrate holidays however you wish.

Just don't force everyone else to do as YOU choose.

What's preventing you from living the life your parents enjoyed is the way the rich are grabbing up everything for themselves and leaving little for everyone else.

It's not the Jews from Eastern Europe, or the blacks that are spoiling your life.

I noticed "Gary's" response felt that Christianity influence need not bias a society. Gary's icon appeared to be that of an Asian man.
Let's turn around the question. Say in a country like China (previously influenced by Confusiaism and Buddism) , Japan (Shintoism), India (Buddism) Indoneshia(Muslim) and other Asian nations what is the level of acceptance of Christianity? I believe Japan is fairly tolerant and possibly India. Yet any intrusion of the Christian religion would probably be thwarted much more so than the reverse.

My sentiments exactly!!! My poor sister lives in Birmingham, her children go to a mainly Muslim school, and they DO NOT celebrate Christmas,Easter, and Christian assembly, is unheard of. A Mosque has been built behind her house, and she, and my poor old Mum, are woken at 5am by religious chanting, every morning. NO ONE asked their permission, and no one listens to their complaints, and when they DO complain, they are told to move, FROM THE AREA THEY WERE ALL BORN IN. My Mom had to move from the road SHE WAS BORN IN,she was driven out by radical Muslim youth, but she REFUSED to move from the area altogether, and WHY SHOULD SHE?

I now hear, her Muslim neighbours have reported her to the local council, FOR OWNING A DOG!!!!!! My mother faces losing her beloved pet, because dogs are offensive to Muslims.

I also read in the paper today, that nurses in our hospitals are to stop whatever they are doing, to turn the beds of Muslims in hospitals, towards Mecca, 5 times a day. HOW MUCH MORE DOES THIS GOVERNMENT EXPECT US TO PUT UP WITH???? I am NOT racist, just pi$$ed off with what's happening to my Country.

Quite simple - the name England does not appear on the EU maps. There are only 9 regions. If you want to destroy a Nation, you first destroy its traditions, and Heritage, and make it ashamed of itself, then fearful of being classed as "unacceptable". According to my kids, the BNP nutters are gaining ground through the country. Everyone says "stop them" Great, but why are they gaining ground. That is what should be addressed. Everyone is moaning about the loss of British Heritage, but what are you prepared to do about it.

Bang on.
I love being English, I don't mind the Welsh being proud of their differences, their own language, beautiful mountains, and fantastic voices. Or the Scots with their lochs, mountains
undecipherable accent. tenacity and fierce bravery.
But I love the English countryside, the shires the country pubs
our history pomp and ceremony.
I love Christmas and everything that goes with it, even being
skint until Easter to pay for it.
I am very saddened at the changes I am seeing, I don't recognize my country anymore.
Mosques are changing the skylines of our major cities, hardly anyone speaks English in out towns. Sadly I think it is too
late to reverse these happenings. This is England now

Well, to put it simply, because we have become multi-cultural. The life your parents enjoyed took place in a more monolithic culture. But as time has progresses, society becomes more multicultural and universal. So one is expected to respect the varied cultures, religions, and worldviews of others. While you can still have nativity plays, Christmas, and Easter eggs, they may just be a little harder to come by given the melding and blending of cultures. You may find that by opening yourself up to some different experiences, you will come to enjoy some of the rich cultural traditions and ideas or others. But even if you choose to abide by the cultural norms that make you comfortable, you shouldn't be labeled "racist" unless you've insulted someone else's culture. If you are, I would venture to say the other person is the intolerant one.

I agree that it's ok to be patriotic but i think folks should be careful not to confuse religion with patriotism. You can be patriotic to a country but still have different faiths. An equal society should ideally allow all religions to be celebrated equally or none at all!

So do I 'Charon', and it seems amazing that we even have to make this claim. The unpatriotic lefty/liberals, however, don't believe in Nation States, hence, their childish retort, "racist". We used to have a word for this, "Treason".
