Well the name says it all for these so called warning lights on your dashboard. Usually by the time these lights have begun flashing they are screaming at the car owner that the time to do maintenance has come and gone and probably you're already looking at expensive repairs to not only stop the light from flashing but to fix the problem. Go to: http://www.samarins.com/diagnose/checkengine.html and do a bit of reading up on "how to read" the flashes. 2 flashes mean something, 4, 5, 6 flashes mean something else. The codes are many. Hence mechanics charge $55 to $70 dollars to "read" the code for you with their expensive equipment. Auto-Zone sells a fairly inexpensive gadget that the car owner can insert in the computer and the instructions will decode most common error codes. Remember that new automobiles have several sensors throughout and it is normally a flashing sign one or more of these sensors either are not working properly or actually identify a real problem. Good luck but plan to get your fingers dirty and have a soda ready while you're reading the Internet information on Engine Light codes/problems.

Turn signals, emergency flashers, high beam indicator, vehicle stability control, headlights on, change oil, rotate tires, tire pressure monitor. These are all things my Odyssey has. I can't keep up, so I ignore them all until something catastrophic happens, then it's easier for the dealer to fix. It's harder to find an intermittent problem than it is to find one that is totally obvious due to a total component failure. I think I'm doing the dealer a favor, and I'm sure he appreciates the business.

It's tricky. After oil, it's actually the left blinker light. They don't expect you to be watching those.

Just cover the light with a small piece of black tape. That should fix all of your problems.

New instrument cluster for your dash$500.
Checking for recalls on the darn thing may be...... priceless.
I just got one from G.M. I was shocked that they were so responsive and nice about it.
