and they love it. as does my sis to places like border's. when it's for some place they love or something they love doing isn't it still a generous gift? last year I treated my dad to a year of haircuts, which I couldn't do for my mom but I did one year treat my sis to one month at a salon. if the thought is behind the certificate is it ok?

No, it just means you're a guy. lol

No, they are great gifts and as long as you aren't doing generic ones like to walmart ... and yours seem to have thought into them. Then you are doing just fine. :)

Gift certificates are good presents, in my book, if they are for something specific you know the recipient really likes. The reason gift certificates are given a bad name is because to some, it means you didn't put any thought into the gift, like it's the lazy way out. I don't mind getting them though.

What matters the most in a gift given is that it is something the person receiving it wants or can use. If the certificate fits that description then it is a good gift.

I would actually prefer to get certificates! That way I do not have stuff cluttering my home that I do not really want not need. That is really a waste of money.
You should feel free to give certificates, but maybe occasionally change it up with something you know they would like. That will show them that you are thinking of them personally when gift giving arises.

I think it's a great gift and it certainly doesn't mean you're cheap. Good luck. 2D
