You can buy a file guide at the hardware/tool store.

Um you might not want to... If you want to risk it try holding it at a 60 degree angle. That should sharpen wall and keep the risk minimal to you

^Kind of like that (Vertical is saw, diagonal is file)

To be honest -
you CAN do it yourself, but it doesn't cost that much to get the chains re-sharpened.
This is one of these jobs where you may not want to do it yourself. There are plenty of stores out there that will gladly do it for you - minus the risk for injury to you or the amount of time it takes to do it manually.

The best sharpening object is to hold it gently against your head and put it on full speed but dont do it too hard as you might cut yourself.
