An IUD works by acting as a foreign object in the uterus thereby irritating the uterus, so nothing will implant. This does not mean that an egg will not be released, nor does it mean that the sperm and egg won't meet...it just means that it won't be able to form into an implanted pregnancy.

IUDs should NOT be used unless you are completely disease free, and are in a long-term totally monogamous relationship. An IUD can act as a conduit, transmitting relatively benign infections to the uterus, which in turn can cause life threatening situations. So if you're not in a SERIOUS relationship, do NOT get an IUD.

Learn to write a sentence, then ask again.

But I will take a guess....

IF you are both disease free and seeing only each other and the IUD is working, then you COULD fore go the condom.

When SHE is ready and you both trust each other.

It does not stop the sperm, it prevents the egg from attaching to the uterus.
