It sounds like she messed up, but Christmas is suppose to be about giving and not so much receiving. But, since you are married, you ought to be able to communicate and tell her. maybe she has the receipt and you can take it back. And, while you are at it, ask if she truly likes the ring.

It sounds like a fake gift to me. Something to throw u off the trail, most likely. Wait till Christmas, and see what happens.
(But if it's not, then it's time to nod, smile, and say thank u. She may have messed up big time, but there is no use fussing about it. You love this woman right? So it shouldn't bother u that she makes a mistake. It's when she starts to make mistakes like this weekly that u want to be concerned. Untill then, let it go.)

Maybe it's a gag gift, sounds like it to me.
But either way, it shouldn't matter. Don't be so ungrateful. Maybe it is your actual gift, maybe she thought you'd like it. If you tell her you don't, you could hurt her feelings. If you love each other, it shouldn't matter what you buy each other for christmas. So you got her a diamond ring and she only got you a CD, big deal. Since when was it a competition??

I bought assorted DVDs for my relatives. CDs and DVDs have secondary advantages as gifts. They can be "re-gifted." Save it for the next occasion and give it to someone else. Also, they can be traded among friends and relatives.
I am not promising anything, but what if she is planning on meeting you at the front door, on Christmas Eve, wrapped in Saran wrap, with a big red ribbon around her waist?

You know your wife better than we do obviously or we hope so at least! Is she fun? Does she like to tease you? Is she forgetful? Does she like surprises? If the answers to all of these questions is no then yes, it's messed up. It sounds like you guys changed roles. Don't women say this about men? Times are changing. I know.

Well I guess she really didn't think about you and what you might have really liked.....but it's not how much money she spends is it. If you really love your wife .....you'll be nice and tell her thank you, and that you love the gift. Maybe she is just fooling you and she got you something really great and she doesn't want you to know.
