i am making a cd and my best freind's mom gave me a hundred dollars to help out. i said thank you like, at least 3 times. should i still give a thank you card? im not reallly sure.

That would be very a very nice thing to do. The more you appreciate something, the more you should make a special effort. Who knows? If you become famous, a signed thank you card may be worth a lot more than a hundred dollars. ;-)

The key to gratuity is genuine persistence. If you're sending a thank you card simply to "look good", then don't. If you're sending a card to genuinely show your gratuity, then by all means. Cards, flowers, gifts, etc. etc. are all, at least to me, artificial ways of expressing love and gratuity. Genuine feelings expressed through honest and thoughtful words carry more weight than any object ever can.

Technically, if you have the opportunity to thank someone in person, you don't need to write a card. But if the gift is very generous or it's a formal occassion (wedding, business help, etc), then yes, it's best to formally thank them with a hand-written card.

Any time someone gives you something, whether it's money or a gift, it's always a good idea to send them a "Thank you" card...even if you've said it a thousand times, prior to sending the card.
It shows that person that you really appreciate what they did for you......and it's just plain old good manners! LOL!
