The referendum was about reforms to the constitution. He accepted the results. Chavez is not a dictator.
The EU constitution was rejected in France and the Netherlands and EU single currency membership in Denmark. Those governments didn't step down because the referendums weren't about that. The same is true in Venezuela. Chavez term will end and then he will leave. That's not dictatorship but democracy

On 3 December 2006, voting to choose a president for the six-year term to begin on 10 January 2007. With 98.29% of the polling stations counted, incumbent president Hugo Chávez was re-elected with 62.87% of the votes.

He lost this referendum on a democratic vote. He still is very popular in his country. Why should he step down? Did Bushy step down? After next years election will the republican party disband?
I hardly think so.

Chavez was not defeated. He was overwhelmingly elected to a second term about a year ago. His referendum's to change the constitution were defeated, but he was not. There is no reason to ask him to step down unless you don't believe in democracy.

Even tough Chavez said he respected the populorum...I doubt that!
He's planning something else already. He's hurt, not badly mut hurt and rediculized internationally so he'll revenge. His stupid pride won't let him forget that is own people doesn't want him anymore

actaully he is only part way into his term

he has 5 more years left before he would need to step down

he wanted to change the constitution so he could keep running indefinitely, he would have still be re-elected each time though

maybe he can do like bush and fix the election

Never, he'll passify the population and use fear and intimidation or out right fraud to get the results he wants.

Once a "man of the people" assumes power only his death will result in the new leader.

He's a sore loser.
