I mean how does it affect anyone ? Our society tests candidates on a case by case basis, you pass the test you get your score and later employers only care about results and performance, with their eyes set on the dollar/euro people who have any say have become blind to racism or sexism who denies that lives in lala land. So why all the rage ? I mean studies have found out that asians are the smartes on earth and I have yet to hear of men rallying in front of the japanese embassay throwing sushi at them.

Why would anyone really care about what your gender "on average" is?
I know that most of my fellow men can be one-track minded jerks, but that doesnt mean I am. Hell, three out of the top four students at my HS graduation five years ago were female at a predominantly male high school (I was the valedictorian). The male to female ratio was about 11:1 btw. So dont tell me that women aren't as intelligent as men. They just a have a different set of smarts than men. It's all on a case by case basis. No one, not even the Asians can outsmart everyone else in every other category. And booksmarts is hardly enough to earn a living on. One needs street smarts, common sense and practicality, and sure book smarts always helps but it's not everything. Really, what I would rather see is a ranking based on category (i.e math, science, reading comprehension, etc.).

Because every single test where it has shown one group, whether it be race or gender, to come out on top, has been proven terribly flawed.
For example, the links guns_fan has given is about the same study conducted in part by one John Philippe Rushton. Much of his research has been called into question, and he has even apologized and refuted some of it.
Yes, gender does play a part in how information is received, stored, and computed in the brain, but gender is not a hindrance or advantage when it comes to overall intelligence. And that's a fact. Anyone who would argue otherwise has some sort of sick and childish "us against them" mentality.
I would also like to point out that most "great discoveries" were not made just by men. Do a little research into who some of the first computer programmers were, for just one example. Anyone who would argue that has been poorly educated, and is also trying to take credit for contributions they didn't personally make, just because they share a gender with those people.

Well, I really SHOULDN'T care...I mean, even if the average man scores 4 points higher than the average woman, I'm STILL around 40 points above him. All the same, it bothers me.
For one thing, it bothers me when people try to use those studies as a justification for claims like "women are inferior" or as proof that women ought to be subjugated, which a number of men on this forum have done.
Also, it bothers me that people assume these studies are really accurate. People have been saying for years now that standard IQ tests really aren't accurate. Also, how do we know that these "studies" aren't testing for a particular aspect of intelligence that men excel in, instead of an area that women excel in? If that's the case (and it probably is) then clearly men will score better. Also, as far as I know, men are the ones conducting these studies so bias is inevitable, even if they only indulge that bias in choosing the testing procedures (i.e. choosing things that men excel in, as I already mentioned).
So there's a lot of reasons why those studies bother us.

Men and women process information in entirely different ways. How can have an accurate test of intelligence when it is ultimately based upon the intrepretration of the information- information that will be processed by either a man or woman or, tragically, both. Don't try to understand women. We don't understand ourselves. Just know we're good for you, like complex carbohydrates.

I don't see that any rational, reasonable women would get all riled up about the results themselves. Perhaps it is how the message is delivered or who is delivering that message. Often, its all in the delivery.
Understand, too, that just because the smartest person in the world is a male does not make all males smarter than all females...it really should be judged on a case by case basis - not on a sweeping generalization.

Actually my dear yahoo answers contributor; recent studies have shown that there is a huge difference between 1year old boys and 1 year old girls. These studies have shown that at that age the girls have made 4 times more eye contact with the people surrounding them than the boys.
In addition 12 women and 12 men were shown the same violent images and some that had nothing to do with violence and while the women had 9 different sections of the brain at work the men only had two. Also the Amygdala which is an almond shaped area of the brain is larger in the female brain than in the male.
This same study showed that while women can chew gum, talk on the phone and preparing two diffrent sandwiches with each hand, we can only chew gum!.
To further prove my point one which im sure you can't argue with although it might sound sexist, women can do three guys in certain adult films and we can only do one women. (sucks to be us!) but we thank God we have women in our lives!
Oh by the way, some guys might want to check the following link from Men's Health.

I think we all react when a group that we are in 'loses'. I hate it when they say something negative or deragatory about Canadians, wives, mothers, white people, etc. whether it is true or not is irrelevant.
Besides, studies that pit one against another are rarely accurate. Who did the study, who paid for the study etc. They shouldn't make a difference but we all know that it makes all the difference in the world.

Because guys like you like to use it to supposedly "put us in our place".
I mean - think about it. For example - if I take a class with you and I am doing better in it than you. The grades prove it.
Let's say I take three classes with you, all of which score-wise I am doing better than you.
Now - how does it feel for ME to tell you that I am doing better? You'll argue that you're not applying yourself or trying hard enough, right?
You use information to make others angry - not to inform them of any thing.
It's kind of like watching the evening news.

Well, personally I think it's amusing when the misogynists on this board gibber with rage (it's debatable whether their panties get twisted, too) when you point out to them that the highest IQ ever measured belongs to a woman.

That has always bugged me as well. The same people also complain about studies that show men are on average stronger than women. That doesn't mean that my flabby butt is going to win a wrestling match against a female body-builder. But it is a simple fact of genetics that average man has more muscle mass than average woman. Why the upset?
