1) I am a Christain who is now friends with a girl who is Jewish.
I was heading home with my friend after volleyball practice. We were just having a good time when a couple of other girls walking in front of us turned around and spat "Jew!" and a couple other names at my friend. These girls are on the volleyball team too and have been avoiding me ever since I've hung out with this new girl. I didn't really pay attention to it though. I never knew that she was Jewish, not that it matters. Anyway, I was shocked. I have a temper but I'm not one to act it out, so it surprised the girl (who called my friend that) when I punched her. It surprised me too but I was pissed. My friend was on the verge of tears and I was frick'n pissed. What right did they have to say that? None! I thought we were over the who's who and who's what. Now, out of curiosity, how do you think I handled the situation? I probably could have done it better but I will never regret what I did.what the world has come to?

You're right, you could have handled the situation better but you acted out of rage and anger, which is normal; plenty of people do it. You acted on your first thought which was to physically stop this girl from saying things like that.
Even though it's wrong to hit people, she shouldn't have been harassing the Jewish girl with racial slurs that are very hurtful. We're not living in racial times anymore and those girls should have been more accepting to her religious beliefs.
I feel as though you took a stand for the Jewish girl and she probably needed a helpful hand to stop these girls from harassing her. Although hitting someone is never truly justified, I still think you did the right thing because it was wrong for them to say such things to the other girl... and they will probably stop from now on.

While I certainly understand your outrage, all you did was probably made them resent your new friend even more. You do not want to cause more of an "us against them" environment.

Perhaps you should talk privately to the girl you struck and apologize. Explain that you have little tolerance for such things but you were wrong to hit her. Do your best to get everyone to accept the new girl as just another girl.

We need to focus on our similarities and minimize the differences.

Already thats how you handle a situation.I feel if it was legal to punch people in the face for doing or saying something ignorant it would stop a lot of the stupidity.I give you the biggest congradulation you should punch they *** again if you feel like it.Of course you shouldnt choose violence all the time but sometimes its needed.

You did the right thing. It's nobody's buissness what another persons religion is. As long as that person is nice. Tell those other girls to go **** themselves.

You did a really nice thing, whether or not your friend actually saw it that way. You're a hero for defending your Jewish friend.

You were right to do this. These girls are prejudice and trust me, if they keep acting like this, they'll have sad, sad futures.

Good for you! I love it when people stand up for what they believe in, and although she can say whatever she wants, now she knows it's not without consequence.
