Like Hendrix or not, every musician will tell you that Hendrix changed everything. He was a true innovator. His style blended blues and rock in way that is still looked to as the backbone of modern guitar. His recording tricks reinvented studio recording in the 60's.He was the first true guitar hero, and the music you listen to is a product of his innovation. Rap, rock , metal whatever! If you don't like blues you won't like Hendrix. His music was out in front of the pop scene at the time, and even a lot of people who liked mainstream rock were jolted by Hendrix. Most of the good rockers really loved him though.

His skill with the guitar was incredible for the time. Just because you don't like his music doesn't mean you need to understand. For instance, I hate opera - that doesn't mean it's not good music.
