I have always foud that it is more effective to be pragmatic and determined. I dont pay much attention those who concern themselves with fantasies.

Yes, it's a bad thing. It puts ideas before humans, which is wack. I'm not much of an idealist. As a Capricorn, I'm a pragmatist- sometimes you need idealism, but usually you don't. Whatever works. I doubt seriously your sun has much to do with it, but your moon is kinda telling. Chances are your Jupiter is playing alot into this along with anything in your 9th. First, it's being 'an idealist' or being 'idealistic'.
Second, what do you mean by 'good'? 'Good' is a totally subjective value judgment. Like anything else, it depends on a variety of other factors. Sometimes the result of being idealistic and ambitious will be positive and other times it won't.

yep so long as you don't get your heart broken by those frequent and unavoidable doses of reality that show up unexpectedly from time to time. the problem is that ideals rarely come tempered with reality. So let's make sure all the Hispanic kids graduate from high school sounds great. Then the landlords raise the rent and all the families have to move farther away from a school and don't notify the school district and change their phone number because it belongs to the new landlord. and then when the boys reach 14 or 15 they go to work with their fathers. when the girls reach 15, they become available for marriage. At least they got some education - more than mom or dad.

Yes. Idealism is essential. If we dont strive to see our ideals happen, we may as well be dead. And one of the saddest things is watching a nice new politician, full of idealism, get caught up in the political machinery and lose those ideals.
Ambition is also a good thing, but must be tempered with other priorities. In an person who hurts others to get what he wants, for example, ambition is bad. But if it provides a focus and direction forsome-one'slife, then its good.

That depends on definitions and statistics and application. It also depends on how big a glutton for punishment a person is.
Your question is a sloped, greased Ouija board.

It is good, otherwise there is no direction and no goal and purpose in life. But do not be over ambitious. Do not be obsessed and do use crooked means to attain your goal.
