Why did the number of sales of Michael Jackson's latest albums drop down?

It was as Michael said. Sony didn't like the album, and they refused to promote it. And despite "low" record sales, Invincible was Michael's fastest selling cd, and it was #1 in 13 countries. Many of the songs became #1 hits as well, such as You Rock My World and Break of Dawn. And the other songs didn't go unnoticed. I would definitely declare Speechless and Butterflies to be instant fan favorites. And if the album was lacking anything, it was just because Michael had his little children, Prince (then 4) and Paris (then 3) and he couldn't work obsessively on his albums like he used to, because he is a good parent and he was raising his kids.

Because in the USA people are so preoccupied with an artist's personal life that they don't recognize their artistic talents. Rehab and court cases are more important than the person's work and achievments. Michael Jackson is a pop culture icon, he changed the world of music forever and no matter how screwed up his personal issues are, no one can deny his place as one of the most honored, loved, and talented artists in history.

People nowadays don't know what real music is and also the fact that Sony didn't promote it, but even then it sold more copies than most artists' albums do!

The repeated allegations that he sexually molested young boys, along with his bizarre appearance and repeated plastic surgeries. I think even die-hard fans were turned off at some point.
