Why is it that people that are Black and Asian only considered Black but a person mixed White and Asian can be considered either White or Asian?

Why the big difference? Growing up I would embrace both sides of my cultures but used to get shot down because I obviously look Black.

I had friends who were White and Asian and they would claim either White or Asian and would be able to embrace both cultures without criticism.

Can I get some feedback about this?

And for note: if your answer will be rude and mean, then please dont answer at all.

To tell you the truth, I think that you should be able to embrace both sides as well. However, sorry to say, I think that it is because of the skin color that people see, and they think that you can't possibly be Asian. However, I do know people who are in the same boat and people are floored when they see them order perfectly at a restaurant in the language that they do not believe them to have as part as of a background.

I don't know if this helped or not, but I hope that you continue to embrace both your heritages. It is what makes you, you. =)

You can claim anything you want.... You were considered black because, as you said, "I obviously look black." Still you can claim either mixed or Asian, if you wanted to.

Either way, though, you will hear people talk and some people will criticize you. That won't change even if you are 100% one race.

People are... just that... people. They have their own opinions even if they are right, wrong, or in-different.

Because you look more African.
A White/Asian can claim either one because they look the part.

I bet you get dates though, men love exotic women.

It should matter what you look like. You should claim all parts of your heritage. I wouldn't deny my father's or my mother's heritage. I simply wouldn't do it. Good luck. 2D
