And instead want to just spend their lives with someone? Don't they know that legal marriage is not a sign of true commitment? I mean hello, look at the rates of divorce and infidelity. How can people believe that the married man who cheats on his wife throughout the marriage is more committed than the man who doesn't get married but remains faithful to his non-legal spouse simply because the guy is married? I'm just curious because I see a lot of negative responses when heterosexual people ask about commitment ceremonies and things like that.

The majority of people are herd animals. By doing what you are doing, you are going against the herd and therefore, they resent it and will try to shame you into falling back into line like a sheep. With the divorce rate being what it is and all of these children being raised in broken homes, I strongly believe that a lot of people never should have even bothered walking down that aisle.

I'm not sure why people have negative things to say. Certainly getting married is a personal choice that you make and your right it certainly doesn't make you (man or woman) any more committed to a person. If you stray you stray married or not. For some people there is no love and marriage is just a business arrangement. So you have to take it for what it is and no one should judge anyone else about it.

What's the difference between a marraige and a commitment ceremony? It is sill the union of two people. I agree with you on the divorce rate. In our society we beleive in one man for one woman hence the high divorce rates. Other culters are different and yet and still they stay married. I believe in what God joined together let no man pull apart. Is the commitment ceremony to say I'm with you today but still have the option to leave tomorrow. To me it just doesn 't sound too permanent. Neither does marraige, however it's what's right in our society and what the bible tells us.
