it will take time, people need to stop being so dumb.... it shouldn't matter if gay people get married, it doesn't hurt them, and it makes the other people happy.... its all up to the dumb closed minded people that have to act all stuck up and better than everyone else..... once they get off their high horse, it might be legal everywhere

We have had legalized gay marriage in Canada for a few years now. It really hasn't changed the public views of GLBTQ peoples that drastically.

I am doubtful about the US, they have been saying they will drop the Imperial system of measurement for 50 years now and switch to metric. Some things they just selectively choose to endorse, irregardless of the global norms.

The fact that stastically about 50% of couples living together are married and 1/3 survive marriage at that, makes one really question the value of marriage anyway.

I predict 15-20 years from now, once the social conservatives shoot their wad and realize their high horse had ridden on without them.

Once an entire generation sees thay gay marriage has worked out okay in Europe, Canada, and the northeast (including civil unions), the mass opposition will fade.

I wish it would be legalized. My gf and I have a really hard time where we live because it is illegal and we also live in a small community. Unfortunately I doubt it'll ever be legalized because many religions say homosexuality is a "sin" and religion seems to influence many laws, even though there's supposed to be a separation of church and state.

If you legally get married in one state, ALL other states have to recognize that marriage through reciprocity. It is legally required of them. This is the reason everyone wants to stick their noses into the business of other states when they have a bill on their legislature floor involving the legalization of gay marriage. (They don't want to have to recognize the legality of the marriage, but they know they will have no choice.)

unfortunatly i think it will be a long time...
to the person up there from canada: the metric system thing and this aren't remotely related. it doesn't matter how someone measures something that doesn't hurt anyone, but not allowing 2 people who love each other to have the same rights as 2 other people who love each other hurts plenty of people.

Marriage takes place when two people have decided to spend their lives together and live as one, the government doesn't need to give you permission to do that. "Legalized marriage" is only so the government can tax your more. I think it's quite over-rated. I was married and my ex-wife and I had a wonderful ceremony, and we didn't need the government's approval to have it.

It takes society a little while to catch up. Maybe in the near future. Good luck. 2D

I dont think it will be any time soon. I really dont see the big idea to be honest. If people love each other why can they marry each other?
