I was driving my 1990 silverado 350 at night, and my headlights were on because it was dark. I dimmed my headlights and suddenly there was no more light. The radio also shut off.
I have turning signals, flashers and brakelights.
Can anyone help me before i go buy something that i do not need?
Thank you in advance

You blew a fuse. Replace it and drive happy.

Headlights and radio are not on the same fuse for one thing so though it may be possible for the fuse to have blown, it can only be a symptom of what made it blow, if it did. Two fuses blowing at once? hmmm.

I had a similar experience. Headlights use alot of power, and the radio will not turn on if there isnt enough power, as a safety measure so it wont burn out. The ordinary taillights will still operate. I would check your alternator and battery, and also the fuses, since it could be a rare coincidence. I would also check the alternator belt cuz it can be loose and has killed your battery and your alternator now cant charge it.

Your light switch might be going out, it probably has a short and it caused the radio fuse to blow? Check your fuses first. If you have to play a little with your light switch to get your dash to work, It's time to replace it. Try doing it soon because mine started to flake out on me and one day I was playing with it, and it started to smoke. Not something you want happening while you're driving. I think I paid about $30 or less for it.
