Hi everyone

I booked a hotel reservation with a certain hotel, but need to cancel it now, I had it booked for 3 months now.

Will they charge me, as I have used my card to secure or guarantee the booking

The time I would have checked in is in June next year, however I will no longer be needing it now

No, they shouldn't charge you. Most hotels will not charge you if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance. Be sure that when you cancel the reservation, you get a cancellation number.

It generally depends when the booking os for.

Most hotels have a cancellation policy, no charge if you cancel longer than say, a week away, then 75% up to 7 days, then 50% of your bill, or something like that.

The sooner you cancel the cheaper it will be.

What you are basically paying for with cancellation charges is the lost business. A hotel might have secured another booking while it had your room booked, but wont have been able to accept it (and losing monsy). The sooner you cancel the more chance they have of booking the room and making the money they need.

you should be fine, but call the hotel and find out what the cancellation policy is. most hotels have a 24 hour cancelation policy, which is you have until 24 hours before the date of arrival to cancel without penalty. but if they do charge you, the sooner you cancel the better because the longer you wait the more they charge.

You need to ask them. Every hotel has different rules. Most hotels have rates that are cheaper but cannot be canceled as well as rates that are higher but can be canceled a day before you were supposed to arrive. It depends what rate you took.
