I think that this question belongs in "singles and dating" but you aren't getting the answers you want there.
I'll answer this anyway.
"Opening your eyes" would imply that the person doesn't notice something. The situation you described is the person not being interested. The person who got "shot down" needs to realize that it isn't going to happen because it sounds like they are bordering on obsessive. The shot down person needs to move on so they can be happy with someone else.
