Before I quit my job a few weeks back, it was the exact same situation with me and my boss....
She was a relentless complainer, and I would just smile and complain along with her....
Don't get me wrong, I love a good whinge, but is it really necessary to bring up the faults of every living and non living thing on this earth?!
It really gets you down after a while.....

Also a co worker. In reality she drives me flurkin' nuts! She is a martyr, always thinks she is right when she rarely is and because she is a bit older than me and way older than the rest in the department she thinks that gives her a right to automatic respect. WRONG!

My brother in law, biggest loser on the planet as a father and a husband. My sister loves him and I love my sister so I keep my mouth shut and just smile and nod when he speaks. My best friends boyfriend as well, I just find him very arrogant and disrespectful.

I'm in the same boat, the only time I actually care to be nice when I'm really not interested is at work...because they pay me and they pay me well...therefore, I must behave. But trust me...my personal life...it's a WHOLE other story, "ask me if I care.."
