Why do they make public announcement about it, like why not keep it private? I know there's not many teen stars that have said that lately but the ones that have, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers have claimed they waiting for marriage and/or had purity rings after rumors of pregnancy and one of the Jonas brothers dating Miley. My problem with Miley is that today, she's a sweet, teen star but I say by the time she's 18-21, it'll be a different story.

And have you notice after years of saying she was going to wait and she supposedly did, Jessica Simpson who is now divorced says she's won't wait for marriage but she'll wait a long time before she has sex in a relationship. I've noticed her sister didn't make a big deal out of it.

Personally I think for a celebrity to make a public announcement about their virginity is no different than a sexualized socialite hocking her sex tape.

There was a time that Britney claimed not to smoke, drink, was waiting for marriage, and not dating Justin Timberlake. And trust me, even though I was a big fan, I didn't quite buy it, partly because she would contradict herself a lot. Even when I was a teen I liked the manufactured pop stars. I'm not as into them anymore but still fascinated by celebs.

P.S. I knew they were manufactured back than but still liked them.

Really?! I actually haven't looked at Miley Cyrus that much but I heard she was/were a big fan of Britney Spears and her and her dad were inviting her to Thanksgiving.

So that in itself really says something.

I think both celebrities and everyday people could stand to be a lot more discreet. What one does or does not do in terms of sex is no one's business anyway.

Well I think it's mostly a publicist saying those things. Teen idols are manufactured anyway, they don't have any real decisions to make. Just lost their mind at 21 and turn into a coke head, get arrested and thrown into prison. If I recal correctly a few of the lush's even claimed to be virgins while they smoke back 2 packs of Malboros a day. I think the whold concept of celebrity is a joke lately, these cracked out trashy individuals don't have any real talent and why would anyone even take what they say seriously anyway?

Because they want to keep their image good.

Joel Madden used to wear one of those too... and look at him now, impregnating Nicole Richie.

Britney Spears said that, but Justin Timberlake spilled the beans that they had done it when they were dating.

In the spoiled lime light they are in, I suppose it's to get more publicity. I'd bet to say that none of the celebs promising to do that have.

And with Miley Cyrus... all the pose's in picture's I have seen her doing.. there is no way that girl is not sexually active. She is a little wh-re in making.

I think you've read one too many supermarket tabloids. Life is about us, the average schmucks, not silly little trallops in the Enquirer.

you're right, some things are better left unsaid. part of the problem is the media hounds them for statements and answers and no one can live up to the ideals that are put out there.
