i just got my laptop and plugged it in and began setup of windows. during the setup, while i was answering questions, like what user name do i want for my administrator account and what do i want the screen background to be, in the middle of setup it came unplugged. i turned it back on after plugging it in and it opened right up to the windows opening. it didnt go back to the setup where it left off, i knew it wouldnt, but now i know its not gonna run right since it was never setup all the way, i interrupted the power source during initial setup and now i dont know what to do. it looks like it might be running right(im on the home desktop typing this) but how do i know? i know it never got a chance to setup all the way, because it was waiting for me to click "continue" before it became unplugged, which i didnt get to hit. anybody know how to restart everything from the absolute beginning? before setup?

really depends on a lot of things. if your cd's have a forced installation of drivers or not for one. try booting from CD. go into your BIAS settings, holding DEL during the 1st system check should do it. just select your advanced menus, boot devices. turn off everything but CD. just remember the initial configuratin to change it back.

that would be booting from the Windows installation disk. If not you can download a kazillion floppies to boot through, assuming that laptops have floppy drives anymore, most dont.

Sounds like all that you would have missed was the configuring of the User account.

Go to the Control Panel, click on the User icon and select that you want to create a new Admin account. It will walk you through the same process that got interrupted.

Once you have the new account up and running, you can go back to the User icon and delete the original account to save some hard drive space.
