How can one become a cryptographer?

I want to know more about the job of a cryptographer. Also what are the things which i need to study if i want to be one. Please mention specifically. Currently i am doing first year engineering in I.T.

Heavy on mathematics and computer sciences. Most cryptography is math algorithms.

You must be very good at high level math. Search under cryptography
