I think everyone, black, white, latino; whatever you are, need to all loosen up and get over their racial issues, We are all human beings when it comes down to it. Most of us have differences, but even people with differences can come to an agreement. I think a joke is a joke, but then again calling a Black person a ****** on stage tends to send chills down my spine just knowing personally what someone like my parents and grandparents went through. White people will never be able to understand what black people have gone through. Unless you were a slave and not able to vote, and had your sons and daughters sold, you'll never ever know. I'm in no way racist, but I think if everyone would show a little more respect and cut out the insults and the degrading of people, we would be alright.

George Carlin and Lisa Lampanelli are viewed as racists? You learn something new everyday huh?

Seriously, as one of my former supervisors once told me, "It's not what you do but how you do it". Humor and humiliation are easily distinguished.

Secondly, one would argue that the reason why white comedians may be a little limited when it comes to race jokes is because what can be called the flip of the coin. Whites were able to mock and crack jokes about black people for years back in the days of blackface. What could black people do back then? Not much. Now reverse that and you have your question...

Because in the past and for a long time..Its was OKAY for White People to Do Whatever they Wanted to do to a Black Person... The only thing a comedian is allowed to do is make a few jokes...

It is getting old, BUT, because nothing you can say about a white person being white is looked at as an insult by white people.

I'm getting tired of the accusation that whites are the only militarily aggressive people who ever owned slaves. Slavery was far more common down in Latin America, but no one ever wants to admit this. Slavery has always been prevalent in the middle east. Only a small percentage of whites ever owned slaves, the north had a higher population, and a large percentage of white migrated to the U.S. after the civil war. Why did I get off on this tangent, I don't know.

The whole racism thing has created much of this political correctness nonsense, and political correctness is evil.

When Richard Pryor was doing it, it was incredibly funny, but I think most black comedians are getting tired of the whole genre. Most black comedians these days stick to making fun of black people and whites stick to making fun of white people, from my observation, except when it comes to celebrities, and they are anyones game.

I think it's because it's thought that white people still have the upper hand in society so comedians feel that they can only get some of their (fight) out by cracking jokes. I think enough is enough, though.

I feel the same way .. I think it's because black people were the slaves and not the white people .. I hate the fact that our people did that to innocent human beings just because they're black but it's still not acceptable for them to crack jokes about us .. x

I don't think that it is in that case. Maybe it is just really funny when they do that. I don't know, sometimes they are just considered racists because of the certain things that they say. I always thought that it was the other way around!

I agree. Double standard. All ethnic comedians can mock "whites" but is deemed unacceptable for "whites" to do the same in a lot of cases. Some do it anyway.
