I'm assuming you're a British citizen. You will need a visa unless you qualify for the Visa Waiver Program.

Most British citizens qualify to visit the U.S. under the visa waiver program. It has a strict, non-extendable 90 day limit, so if you need or want to stay longer , you need to apply for a B2 visa. link previous answerer gave is what you need to read.
