Ionic and covalent are normally considered to be the two types of chemical bonds. Ionic results from the attraction between atoms or groups of atoms (ions) with opposite charges. Covalent bonds result from a sharing of a pair of electrons between two atoms.
There is actually a third type of chemical bond called metallic bonding which is seen in metals.

Covalent: Where two atoms share two electrons (this could also be a co-ordinate bond where 1 atom gives 2 electrons to 1 atom).
Ionic: Where one atom gives another atom an electron making them both ions oppositely charged (holding them together).
