It always was Loretta Young, because she always portrayed a woman who, despite odds, always remained a lady.

Sophia Loren is my next choice. She has aged far more gracefully than some other actresses, and has never been afraid of being photographed wearing spectacles.

Boy that is a tough one, since there were several great
actresses. It's a toss up for me, between Olivia De Haviland
(opposite Errol Flynn, in Robin Hood), or The Dukes' favorite
leading lady, Maureen O'Hara. Both were women of high
regard, and as elegant behind the scenes as on the screen.
Both married well and were the perfect ladies they often portrayed on the screen. I have never heard if either women had children however. But they both have a great legacy in the film industry to leave behind. They are both very admirable
ladies.
As for male actor, my all around favorite was Errol Flynn in
his prime. After him, probably Glenn Ford. Now my hubby would say, John Wayne or Clint Eastwood LOL.

I grew up with a crush on Clark Gable so I guess he would still be my favorite. There are so many good ones I must have forty favorites.
It's the same with Actresses. I really liked Jean Harlow along with about forty others.

We have some wonderful actors and actresses today, but they have no glamor. I don't want to see Brad Pitt all grungy and needing a shave. I hate seeing Julia Roberts in a tee shirt and jeans with her hair a mess. Back in the day they wouldn't have stepped out of their homes looking like that. The public could admire them and enjoy the illusion.

Kate Hepburn, my very favorite. Jimmie Stewart, next. Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Maureen O'hara with John Wayne. Boris Karloff. Vincent Price. Donald O'Connor. Gene Kelly. And all of the above. Too many to list. And most of them sadly gone.
There are many who are just as good today, but they don't have the star mystique that old Hollywood did.
