2/3x+9=-21

subtract 9 from both sides

2/3x =-30

multiply both sides by 3

Both the previous answerers are right.

I will explain it just a bit more.

2/3 x + 9 = -21
subtract 9 from both sides

2/3 x + 9 - 9 = -21 -9

2/3 x = -30

multiply by 3/2 on both sides

x = -30 * 3/2

x = - 90/2

x = - 45 (Answer)

2/3x+9=-21

You can do anything to an equation as long as you do the same thing on both sides ot the equation.

First subtract 9 from both sides of the equation:

2/3x+9-9=-21-9 giving 2/3x= -30

now to solve for x, divide both sides by 2/3

Note: to divide by a fraction you can invert the fraction and mutliply by it.

so:
3/2*2/3x=-30*3/2

giving x=-45

You had me up to 2/3x=-30, but after that you lost me a little. Here is how I'd finish it up
2/3 * x = -30
*3 = *3
2*x=-90
/2 = /2
x=-45
Hope that helps
