There have been plenty, but not for the past couple of decades. The last great white running back was John Riggins for the Redskins of the 1980s. Craig James also broke the 1,000-yard make in that same decade, but I wouldn't consider him great.

There are many more if you dig back in history, like Steve Van Buren, Jim Taylor and others, but they're a rare breed today.

Brian Leonard from the Rams played a few games this season when Stephen Jackson went down. But the last really good one was probably in the 70's. Unless you count Travis Jervey on the Packers and Falcons in the 90's. Fast as hell, but couldn't hold the ball if he had super glue on his hands.

A guy named Larry on the '72 dolphins or maybe John Riggins on the 'skins. They sure put up sopme good numbers in their day.

Alstott was a fullback by title only. Most consider him to be a bruising running back.

I think Craig James was the last pro-bowl tailback in the 80s.
I'm not sure if Merril Hoge (90s) was a pro-bowler, but he wasn't too bad though.

The only white running back that has been talked recently, about on sportscenter or whatever, is a good running back named Brian Leonard

Larry Csonka, John Riggins. Maybe a few others scattered here and there.
