Yes if it is the golden egg laying goose like the
Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation. This corporation is a den of corruption and is milking the city for all it is worth.Councillors jockey for positions in Committees controlling the octroi,
buildings,roads,BEST,waste disposal etc.The
reasons are not too far to look behind for. These
departments are gold mines. If even these
departments are privatised the coffers of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai will
show such a healthy balance that there would
then be no need to levy any additional tax burden on the common man.But then this is mere wishful thinking.

Most municipal corporation are run by the city because they can not be run at a profit and still provide the amount of services that are required for the city to operate efficiency. That is they are "public goods". That means even if they are privatized they will be subsidized in some way and you will get Amtrak or the post office type operations, which are not necessary more efficient. There may be some exceptions, but in general I don't see much to be gained by privatizing.

Yes, I mean if they work more efficiently after privatisation then govt. should take steps. But they should keep a close look over the work

Yes but no monopoles. There should be in a large city at least 3to 4 private companies who put in renewable bids every year. This would result in a healthy competition and efficiency.
