Do you see the festive side OR a wall of lights creating heat towards global warming ?

Nearer the latter...

I see a desperate "arms race" to display more and more "festive", earlier and earlier.

Bigger, brighter brasher... Got to be better than last year...
Or what?

At least the newer diode lights are cutting back on the actual electricity consumption in some cases.

But if we're not careful, our grandchildren are going to hate us.

The festive side however think some people are going way over the top.

I find it festive. I do find myself more on the side of saving energy though.. but I still enjoy driving around and seeing other people's lit up homes. Happy Holidays!

Nope... the house is cleared of Christmas decorations by NOON on December 31st. We HAVE left a string of lights up in the windows of our Pub though.... but that's 200 yards from the house !!

One of our neighbours has his entire house lit up at the front. Santas climbing up ladders, you name it. It's actually quite blinding.
We have a tree and that's it. Definately got to contribute to the warming thing. So much electricity used for those few weeks. It really is unnecessary. People seem to be going way over the top these days. Why?

Homes decorated with lots of lights and decorations do add to the festive feel....but in my opinion....some look really nice, but others are absolutely terrible.
It all down to the eye of the beholder, I think!!

bit of both. i can see why people want to be festive but cant we do it in other ways apart from causing global warming.

class if it is subtle and white lights, the multicolored ones are just gross, but mostly i see an enormous electric bill and global warming. i have to say some ppl who have gone over the top in recent years do not seem to be bothering this year so far.

i love your pic, so damn cute !
