Wild game this year. Smoked pheasant and a smoked goose. For the picky ones a smoked brisket with German hot potato salad, mixed greens, mushroons and giblet stuffing, pasta salad, and to top it off, rum cake, buttermilk custard, rum punch, and eggnog. Of course, soft drinks for the kids and tea. Weird combination, but I love it!

Lol, we've not had a traditional Christmas dinner considering I began working full time. The primary yr I was once working full time i attempted to do the whole huge fancy cooked meal and ended up making myself crazy. The next yr when my kids and i were deciding what to have, certainly one of my daughters suggested we bypass the partiality meal since it was too much work. Of path she was once right so I allow them to chose. That yr we had pizza and root beer floats. The youngsters inspiration it was a blast. EVer on account that then, the more non common, the easier we love it. Even now, when the children are grown and have children of their own, bizarre is the way we work Christmas dinner. It has been the whole thing from make your own sub sandwiches to Indian Tacos to meat and cheese trays coupled with veggie and fruit trays. One year it used to be 3 exceptional kinds of chili. This yr it's cocktail sandwiches with kneophla soup( a German Russian higher Midwest wintry weather regional favourite) and then everyone brings treats to share. Have your BBQ and have enjoyable. The getting together and sharing family love and lifestyle is more predominant than what you are serving. I would really like some BBQ pork butt on the grill but ours is buried within the garage beneath about three feet of snow :(

My husband and I have our own tradition. We'll go to a movie, and then have hors d'ouvres for dinner ... just the two of us. We'll have Dungeness Crab this year for our Christmas Eve dinner ... we usually have oyster stew, but I just found out that my husband has NEVER had Dungeness Crab and he's 50. I 'grew up' eating Dungeness Crab, so I assumed he'd had it too ... but because we were raised in different socio-economics, he hadn't. I actually enjoy eating imitation crab better, but I do feel that my husband really needs to taste the 'real thing' ... they'll clean it at the butcher shop, and I'll serve it with melted butter ... we'll also have asparagus and garlic bread, so he won't have to cook for once (I cook about three times a year these days) ...

Roast beef, but the rest of the menu is very similar to Thanksgiving- mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, baked sweet potatoes, creamed pearl onions, turnips, and corn in butter sause. There will be 11 of us for dinner.
