Its a perplexing question.

There is a side that says "of course they will defend me"
And the other....that says" well...I'm not really sure so should i put myself threw this?"

I think that if your a good enough friend to a person to defend them then they should be thankful.
Expecting them to defend you wouldn't be smart..cause people always let you down...its just life...

but that shouldn't matter....You should defend a friend whether or not they would defend you....and later if they dont.....then do you really need them as a friend?

yes. i know the answer. most of them will not. they will turn on me to save their images among others. they will save what ever it is they think they are saving. the problem is that most of these people just want to look good among the majority. what ever that may be at the time. if they are friendly with me, i would assume we get along okay. if i defend them, then i would assume that we are becoming friends. but when it comes to defending me, then they will look around for public opinion. if being my friend or defending me makes them look like they are on the edge of being an outsider, then they will turn on me without blinking an eye.

so the answer is yes, i have thought about it and i have experienced it. this makes me wonder if i should ever defend anyone ever again.

The only people I defend are my family. And I don't mean everyone in my family. Only those that I know would defend me too.

Yes, I have as a VN vet I found the answer to that was not only would they not defend me but frequently attacked me. I am very glad that our troops are not being blamed for the mistakes of their leaders this time.

It doesn't matter. If I choose to defend them, than that's the stand I take. I don't expect anything in return.

I do wonder that. I think they would only defend me if I were right.

I have a close friend who I've always defended, but sadly, I know that he doesn't stand up for me when others are talking behind my back. I am guessing that it's because he is so afraid of what others think that he just can't stand up for me for fear that they will think badly of him... The good thing is that I have my family who does... except for my mother. She is the same as said friend. *sigh*

I have wondered that at times. Not that I really doubt my friendships but there are a couple of ppl that I have stood up for that I wondered if put in the same situation, if they would do the same for me. Not a good feeling though.
