If your laptop is new its probably equipped with wireless. But you still need to have internet in your house. If you have internet at home already you will need a wireless router to broadcast it to your laptop. Now the wireless phone companies sell cards that connect to their internet but they have a monthly fee like 59.00 and they are kinda slow. If you already have wireless in your laptop you can take it to a "Hotspot" Thats where coffee shops and restuarants have free internet thinking you will buy something while you are there. I have even gone and sat outside a hotel with free wireless when my home internet went out to check my email.I think you would be happiest with internet put in your home though.

Most laptops today come with a wireless card already in them. The card acts like a radio receiver, and picks up "wireless" signals it uses to connect to the Internet. In order for it to work, you have to have something broadcasting the wireless signal.

The most common way to do this is a "wireless router". This is a "box" that attaches to your current cable or DSL modem and then sends out that wireless signal for about 150 feet. (Price: around $50). Once installed, you simply continue to pay for your cable or DSL modem same as you already do.

The other solution is a "satellite" wireless card. These are usually NOT installed in a laptop and have to be purchased (about $150). These allow you to use "cell phone" wireless signals anywhere to hook to the Internet. But you usually pay a monthly fee and a "per minutes" usage for such a connection.

Well you might have a wi-fi connecting built in to your lap top..which model do you have and I could tell you exactly what you need. Most laptops now a days are wireless internet ready.

If you do no not have a wireless card / wi-fi it will be around 100.00 dollars to get one put in and its a one time fee. You also will need a "Wireless Router" which will send out a wireless signal that your computer will be able to pick up so you can use the internet.

You have to pay a monthly to get in the verizon network. You could buy a regular wifi card first and see if u can get on a network around your house. I bought a $50 card and now I have free internet cause I just pick up on someone elses network. Some consider it stealing but hey I can't help it's there.

Usually if you bought a recent laptop it has an integrated wireless network card.

if it doesn't have a wireless card you have to buy it. no monthly fees are needed.

if you want internet at home, you have to contract the service and pay a fee for the service.

to be honest if your not moving your computer around the house much, prob better to get a "wired" broadband. you normally have to pay a monthly subscription to the provider (some on 12 or 24 fixed contracts) and an installation fee check the differant providers for a package that suits you. AND READ THE SMALL PRINT
