Newer computers have different outputs, just hook them both up to different Video Outputs. Then when you want to switch, in your Control Panel should be a tool to change which one it is using.
If you only have one Video Output, you will need to install another Video Card that allows multiple connections.

In order to hook to "monitors" to the same computer, you have to have either a video card that has two connectors (usually one 15 pin VGA and one round RCA Composite), or you have to have a splitter cable.
A splitter cable is cheaper, and available at any electronic store/department. However, you are limited to display the same thing on both of the monitors. The cable attaches to your one output coonector, and then splits the single signal to two input connectors.
A dual display video card will cost a bit, but it gives you the option of having something different on the monitor from what is on the projector. That way you can queue a presentation, or look for a e-mail while the presentation is running. If your desktop has a build in video card, you can usually get a second output cheaply by simply buying a cheap, low end ($25-50) video card and installing it into the computer. Windows will let you use both cards at the same, with a different output to each.

You will need 2 video cards or a double card. You could also use a KVM switch to switch between them. There are VGA slitters, It depends on how you want it. The splitter would be the cheapest

1. install a video card with 2 vga or dvi outputs.
2. buy a splitter, "Y" adaptor, or junction box that splits the signal.
I use the video card with 2 outputs, works perffect.
