The intelligence reports are nothing new. They are just reality in the face of Bush's spin on things. Bush says that Iran has no reason to develop a nuclear power program other than to ultimately create fissile material for a bomb. After all, they have all the oil they need. The world community says that Iran can have a nuclear power program provided they do not enrich uranium which can be used for making weapons.

For a good look at the history of Iran's nuclear program see:

http://www.nti.org/e_research/profiles/Iran/1819.html

Here are some selected historical reports from the past 3 years, when the international community has been saying Iran is not developing nuclear weapons and Bush has been spinning their program as a weapons program:

On Monday, the IAEA released a 30-page report that detailed how Iran finally came clean and admitted to producing small amounts of low enriched uranium and plutonium.
But at the same time, the IAEA said there was "no evidence" that these previously undeclared materials were "related to a nuclear weapons program."
In a Wednesday speech, (Undersecretary of State for Non-proliferation and Arms Control John ) Bolton said the United States did not agree.

"I repeat: The United States believes that the massive and covert Iranian effort to acquire sensitive nuclear capabilities make sense only as part of a nuclear weapons program."

CNN 12/12/2003
http://edition.cnn.com/2003/US/11/12/Iran.nuclear/

The US intelligence community believes that Iran has probably not acquired the fissile material (weapons grade nuclear fuel) needed to produce a nuclear weapon; Director of National Intelligence John Negraponte has stated that “Iran will not be in a position to have a nuclear weapon” until “sometime between the beginning of the next decade and the end of the next decade.”

Recognizing Iran as a Strategic Threat: An Intelligence Challenge for the United States
Staff Report of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Policy, August 2006

The US has criticized an independent investigation which found no evidence that Iran was working on a secret nuclear weapons programme.

The report said traces of bomb-grade uranium in Iran’s nuclear facilities came from contaminated Pakistani equipment, not Iranian activities.

The whole world did not believe Iraq had WMD. The threat was presented as a nuclear threat which was completely fabricated. Powell tried to present evidence that there were other weapons, but these were statements they knew to be false. The weapons the Bush supporters cite were the weapons you mentioned as being unaccounted for, you forgot to mention that properly maintained under the highest standards they have a shelf life of about 10 years. They were no longer functional under the worst-case scenario. The biological weapon threat was non-existent. The nuclear threat was a known lie from the very beginning. Joe Wilson exposed this in what became the Valerie Plame scandal, and Scooter Libby was convicted of obstructing justice to block any new knowledge about the lies from being discovered. The only reason other nations, or the "rest of the world" thought there were WMD in Iraq is because Bush and his administration were creating false intelligence and sharing it with them as if was legitimate. The weapon inspectors on the ground turned out to be 100% correct, and Bush, Cheney, et al turned out to be lying war criminals. If you still are supporting their lies I suggest you crack a non-Beck or Limbaugh book from time to time, or read the literally hundreds of news stories from legitimate sources on the subject. Bush senior did invade Iraq, you have no idea what you are talking about.

He said she said. I have no idea what they know or what they are up to now. I think the thing has got them. Start this Israel thing again and bad weather, we don't need another Katrina or Rita. I think the people over there know what is going on. Must hve made a deal with Putin. Although they just said on the tube that the people saying this have always said this and have no new info and are no longer in that capcity, so there we go again. by the way after we got free speech back this year you don't think we are still that stupid and would sit by, just like the illegal immigration deal, I would think they learned.

ON a funny note, when you e-mail someone on here and just sign your initials do you think they might get the wrong idea? Just kidding. Take care Vote who you want ot vote for.

Listen I am a Republican too and I know Bush is crazy and doing the work for certain lobby groups. But what can You do? This President has the authority and command over our armed forces. It is a good bet that he will attack Iran to secure Israel's borders and to raise the price of oil.
He is going to do something before the election next year THAT is a guarantee.

Peace,

People died as a result of the fabrication of WMD lies, this makes the invasion a crime against humanity.

The Bush admin spreads lies that costs lives. Hell no I wouldn't believe him about Iran. For the people who believes his rhetoric on Iran should demand hard evidence.

If you dont buy into partisan rhetoric why havent you read the ENTIRE REPORT you say debunks Irans nuclear program when infact it says no such thing. heres the rest of the story.

A. We judge with high confidence that in fall 2003, Tehran halted its nuclear weapons
program (1)

(1) For the purposes of this Estimate, by “nuclear weapons program” we mean Iran’s nuclear weapon design
and weaponization work and covert uranium conversion-related and uranium enrichment-related work; we
do not mean Iran’s declared civil work related to uranium conversion and enrichment.

"We judge with high confidence that the halt lasted at least several years. (Because of
intelligence gaps discussed elsewhere in this Estimate, however, DOE and the NIC
assess with only moderate confidence that the halt to those activities represents a halt
to Iran's entire nuclear weapons program.)"

http://www.odni.gov/press_releases/20071203_release.pdf

heres some more inconvienent facts from the ACTUAL REPORT.

"we also assess with moderate-to-high confidence that Tehran at a minimum is
keeping open the option to develop nuclear weapons."

"We judge with moderate confidence that the
earliest possible date Iran would be technically
capable of producing enough highly enriched
uranium (HEU) for a weapon is late 2009."

"despite the continued halt in the nuclear weapons
program. Iran made significant progress in 2007 installing centrifuges at Natanz, but we
judge with moderate confidence it still faces significant technical problems operating
them."

"We continue to assess with low confidence that Iran probably has imported at least
some weapons-usable fissile material, but still judge with moderate-to-high confidence it
has not obtained enough for a nuclear weapon. We cannot rule out that Iran has acquired
from abroad—or will acquire in the future—a nuclear weapon or enough fissile material
for a weapon. Barring such acquisitions, if Iran wants to have nuclear weapons it would
need to produce sufficient amounts of fissile material indigenously"

seems to me this is exactly what the President has said. They SAY they stopped their program which their military persononel has yet they continue to pursue other avenues but since you dont listen to partisan stuff this must be false right...
