Because it's got 3 things people love: Music, A guitar, A video game. And it's tremendous fun because if you play in front of your friends everyone will have a good laugh and try to be better than the others, trying to show some skill. It's tremendous fun.
Hook it up to a home theater, and then you'll really feel like you are a rock star, and people love you. That I guess is the catch for most people.

First, you need to purchase a controller that is shaped like a real guitar. Instead of strings, it has five different colored buttons at the top and another button at the bottom. Much like DDR, the game features a row of the five colors on the screen with 'notes' floating to that row. When the note hits the row (say, a green note), you have to hold in the green button at the top and "pluck" the button on the bottom at the same time. That plays that note. So in essence, it's like playing the guitar along with the original song, but you have to have good eye-hand coordination and a pretty good internal rhythm. It's easy on the lower levels and harder as you work your way up.

Not everyone likes guitar hero, but its a fun game to play if your into playing the guitar. People love it because they get to play these old school rock songs. Plus it teaches you how to play to guitar.

Well, its like the MOST bestest game EVER!!!! I mean, who doesnt know what it is!? It's like, a guitar, but you can play it without, like, knowing how to play guitar....It's like totally hot!
