Well it depends I would say that the average game is about 2 hours and 28 minutes, but if the game goes to overtime I say it goes up to 2 hours and 40 minutes, and if the game goes to a shootout it could last up to 3 hours. Let's not even talk about if a playoff games to overtime. Remember when Dallas and Vancouver played that 4 overtime epic in the 1st round. That was a great game.

Longer than it should. The games are delayed more than they use to be. It is a joke to be at a game and during a whistle see a bunch of dudes who can't skate come out with their shovels and remove the snow. The commercialization of the sport has broken the game up, taken out the flow and in my opinion made the game less exciting to watch in person.
But to answer your question - I was at a MN Wild game this year that was 3 hours (no OT either). Too long for a game that is actually 60 minutes of actual playing time..

Three 20 minute periods take roughly 2 hours and 20 to 2 hours and 40 min. As far as the commercialization goes, ALL professional sports have fallen victin to this. Football games I know for a fact will be halted in order to "pay the light bill". I suspect baskeball does as well. If you really want non-stop action, lace em up yourself and go play.

I'd say about 2 and a half hours for a 60 minute game.

About as long as the final 2 minutes of a basketball or football game or a nine inning nap.

the first two periods easily take up 2 hours.
but since there is no intermission in the third, it takes about a half hour-forty five minutes.
of course, if you count all the times the zamboni has to come out at the ACC in one game, then probably 6 hours ;p
jkjk.

Much shorter than a football game. Watched a football game and a hockey game one night, the hockey game finished before the football game started the second half!
