Hell nawl, not for me anyway..I would dip if I found out there wasn't goin to be alcohol..lol

Of course, unless I'm missing something in the question. Having fun is knowing your guests and meeting new people & having a chuckle or two over little jokes and sometimes big ones. Could it be that we are now so very inhibited with global war - the global warming/end of ice age - being politically correct (even to the fairy tales & songs we learned as children) that we afraid to be ourselves just in case we offend someone? I have found that being outside the 'media' and being with older folks who just say what they think at the minute - can be hilarious and they don't have any problems saying they want a coffee, tea, beer, a soda, a martini or a scotch. The other great thing is the kids - and I mean 5 - 12 year olds who always say what they think nowaday and are just learning how to be devious (they watch us & learn) (especially if Grandma is not within earsdrop). Then the teens 13 - 19 but usually have a plug in their ear - just listen to them, they have something to say. Why is it that the children/early teens seem to be excluded from family affairs now e.g. weddings & funerals? It's all part of their life too and if left out then you will be left out later e.g. weddings & funerals, unless it's your own even then they have no history & probably wont be there. You may not want to hear it but they will say it anyway.
If you have to have a little alcohol to reduce your inhibitions then do so and have some but never feel pressured if you are not. How long is it since anyone went on a hayride or a sleighride? Remember - you only have one life to life, let it be yours...if the occasion calls for it then some libation is great fun.

is it a party for the church ladies? Then you know they have fun. Grandma loves her parties. But my parties you BYOB if you want. and BYOW is a nice thing to do also.

Yep, as long as you have plenty of trees we'll be fine. There's more than one way to skin a cat!!!! Mellow and happy, just the way any host would like his partygoes to be!!!
