I would talk to someone at your local county office of Aging/
Disabilities and ask to speak to a representative who can
answer your questions for these services you need. They
can point you in the right direction. And I know that the Lions
Club has a program to provide those with perscription glasses who need and can't afford them. If she is low income,
then she might qualify for the state Medicaid program and
they provide free exams and one free pair of glasses every
two years. It's possible through them, she might qualify for
an eye lazer surgery to help with her good eye at least. Most
likely she has cataracts in both eyes that caused her blind-
ness. I've been told that sooner or later, the longer you live,
you develop cataracts from old age. I've already had surgeries for Glaucoma, and that could have made me blind.
So that is something also to have an exam for, and hopefully
can be treated. My best wishes to your mother. And I hope
you can get her the help she needs.

Also, go to a local medical
supply house (Apria is a big
one here). A store that handles crutches, canes, walkers, oxygen, etc.
They can give you a lot of
information on low vision products and services.
