I really need my sleep, I have to have around 9 hours to feel half decent the next day, but sometimes I actually find it hard to know if when I thought I was awake I was actually still asleep. I have slept-walked my whole life and got into some pretty scary situations. Last night I know I had a bath and dried my hair but looking back it feels like I was asleep then, the things thats really worrying me is if I can be asleep but still drive! I often get to work and wonder if I was paying any attention and I have recently had an accident leaving work. I just dont know how I actually know im awake as I am so capable when asleep, just looking for advice.........

Oh, you poor thing. I think this is a problem for your doctor. As usual, Camilla, suggests that in view of my past problems with sleep - none (I have gone in to work and not remembered what I have done!!) My doctor prescribed Prozac and I have never looked back. Do this quite urgently, as you may hurt yourself or somebody else. Talk this over with a sensible person who knows your problem and if necessary take them to the doctor with you. My son slept walked and many years later he was diagnosed as a mild epileptic (he is a lawyer now and it in no way affects his life) - so the times when I have caught him staring in to space when he was young was a petit mal, he did not lose consciousness, but when older he had a full blown grand mal - he takes a tablet last thing at night and has not had a recurrence and I am talking 36 years. Good luck doubt if it is serious, but put your mind at rest darling. XX

I saw a programme about something similar to this years ago. Reading your question jogged my memory.
There is a disorder where the person finds it hard to distinguish the dream state and reality. Your best bet is to see your GP and ask for a referral to a sleep clinic who can monitor your sleeping/wakefulness patterns. Best of luck, better to get some professional advice in view of the potential dangers.

You need to see a medical professional about your problem before something undesirable occurs!
I think you will discover that help for your condition will be available for you!
Best wishes...

i would see your doctor and see if you can get refered to a sleep clinic. they would monitor your sleeping patterns. plus when your asleep your heart rate tends to be slower.

I think you should see a psychologist about your sleep walking problem.
