I have so much stuff that I hang on to. I'm such a packrat, and don't want to be. How can I seperate myself from the emotional attachement to an object. For example I have some porcelin dolls that belonged to my grandma. After she passed, they were given to me and I feel guilty for giving them away. There are SO many more things I own that I'm like that with. I've been told to take a picture and keep them in an album, but that is not making the feeling go away. How do you cure a packrat???

The dolls seem special. But all your things can't be former possessions of loved ones that have died. I'd start with other items....maybe things from school etc. In those cases, you should be able to pare things down a bit. Keep one or two items from high school, for example and let the rest go.

Also, moving a lot sure helped me get rid of some of my stuff!

Cheers.
