lol... I hear ya. We got brand new lights this year - several strings so they loop the tree a couple of times. That's lucky for us, because as soon as we got all of them on the blue lights on one string went out.

It's noticeable to us, but nobody else seems to have noticed. We said "screw it" and left it as is. I don't know why that ALWAYS happens!

That has not happened to me at my house but this year at work we was putting up the tree and the string in the middle went out!! But we didn't unstring it (cause its a HUGE tree) we just got some more and hide the ones that didn't work back in the tree and wrapped the new lights around that spot. It looks pretty good but we put that part of the tree towards that wall. =D We wasn't about to take it all apart!!!!!

Never had that problem ever. This year we bought a prelit tree, however somehow in the box one bulb was broken, it took about two minutes to find out which one it was, replace it and it was fine.

set a tree up in this order:

Put the tree up,
-string out the sets of lights on the floor and plug in
-check for any dead or dying bulbs (replace if necessary)
-put lights on tree
-turn back on, re-check lights not burnt out
-put decorations on

I put mine up on Sunday and I had no problem with my lights, It's my baby's first x-mas this year and she so curious about the tree & the lights but I had to make sure that no ornaments are around her reach which makes my tree look funny.

That could be cause by a short fuse in your outlet or maybe a bulb is out on a string of lights and if so you can go to a store and buy a little light bulb checker. It will let you know which bulb is good and which is bad and needs to be changed.

Good Luck!

I put up a tree every year, even though I hate Xmas and everything associated with it (especially greed). As for decorating the damned thing, including untangling wires and replacing bulbs, I leave that to others who are more attuned to this crappy holyday(?). Me, I'm a New Year's Eve gal from way back.

I put up the tree and then the lights to see if they work, and then the rest of the ornaments.I have been known to leave dead ones on and put new ones right beside them, how lazy is that?

Always test the lights before you put them on the tree and replace bulbs. Never had this problem while on, but then they are not on all day either.
