Seems these days people want to sue to jail someone for speaking their mind. How fast are we heading towards a "don't touch me, don't talk to me" culture?

In the American football section I didn't really answer the question, but suggested he look it up himself. I was not snotty about it, yet I open my email this morning and there is the big ViNo! I am not making a big deal out of what happened to me, but just in general. Is society becoming too sensitive or is there an arrogant "I don't make mistakes so don't say I do" attitude going around?

Here's the trick: interpretation.

The rules imply that you did not give a real answer, and engaged in point-gaming.

I find that even if you give a "look it up yourself" answer, you need to do it in such a way that you have a better leg to stand on should a violation notice come down

I have gotten violation notices that made no sense to me at all, because my answers were so harmless. But i have gotten a couple violation notices in the politics section that pi$$ed people off, because politics is such a hot topic. I know there is a sense of "if you don't think like me you are UnAmerican" going on in that section. Maybe it's spilling over into peoples everyday way of thinking. I am not the type of person that can think just like everyone else.I lost an account because of my political opinions. So I stay away from there now.(99% of the time)

That's what it seems like, to me anyway.
Listen to this, a guy asks for help on how to make is girlfriend be a good girl (apparently she hasn't been listening much to him lately) anyway he says he needs to punish her so I JOKINGLY suggested he lock her up in a room for 3 days without food or water. I even stated clearly that I was only joking and that he should not do that, couple of days later... bam violation. I got docked 12 points for kidding when he got nothing for asking that question. What the hell is wrong with some people? I got so agitated!

This is so weird -- I'm pretty much the biggest @sshole ever and I've never gotten a violation. I make disgusting sexual comments and no one seems to care. Yay for me, I guess!

But yeah, violations suck. People seem to love free speech only up until the point when something they don't like is said.

Wear it like a badge of honor. I once got a violation notice I was proud of, because I told off some bigot in no uncertain terms. Laugh about it, and move on.

You have to remember, if people just wanted to look it up, they wouldn't ask. So, the person probably reported you for getting two points and not answering. I wouldn't bother reporting you for that, but some do.
