The true meaning of Christmas is overshadowed by retailers, television commercials giving the message of purchasing presents as a way to celebrate Christmas. There are too many other " things" that cause some people not to remember that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. Personally, with my 2 young daughters, I have made them aware of the true meaning and, we attend church services every Christmas. More families need to teach this to their children. I just think that meaning of Christmas can be forgotten because of other influences, not necessarily intentionally.

As Christians we can celebrate Jesus everyday in our lives. As mentioned, I think there is more about Christmas many not know (Ask a Jehovah's Witness). But, I look at it as we can make good from bad, it a choice. I really not want much anymore, but, do enjoy the spirit of giving and buy a few things for "Toys for Tots" etc. It not what I know, but, what little children have come to know, expect whatever. I not limit this giving to only Christmas either.
Just for Trivia; Jesus was probably born in May/September. But, that a whole other story that just brings up dissension.

Don't bother stressing yourself out about it - Christmas has become commercialized to the max over the years and it will keep on getting worse. I love Christmas and everything about it, including the cookies, trees, carols and presents (so give me a thumbs down, at least im honest) HOWEVER I do believe it is rushed and commercialized too much where some people do forget the real meaning of Christmas.

i'm agnostic, i do no longer think in a god in heaven with angels and harps and halos. yet I honestly will combat enamel and nail to renounce every person from taking the Christmas out of Christmas! that's no longer ours to alter! Christmas became into bliss for me as a baby starting to be up. We discovered each and every of the carols and hymns in choir and it became into the main beautiful "team attempt" i've got ever participated in. by using the time my daughter went to college, the Christmas Nazis had destroyed Christmas concert activities. parents could go in keeping with annum to observe their little ones dressed up as snowflakes and skis. It became into pathetic. The magic of the trip became into black and benign. It meant no longer something to the little ones. All it skill now, in "satisfied trip land" is provides. Christmas shouldn't get replaced. that's like changing Hanukkah or asserting you may consume in the bathing room for the duration of Ramadan see you later as no one sees you. NO! in case you do no longer only like the music, save on-line!

Somehow, you missed the history lesson. It wasn't even about Christ originally, so why are you surprised that it's not about him now?
Christmas is a pagan celebration. Not a Christian one.
So praise Mithras, the reason for the season!
