I can't believe this... People have WAY more to be concerned about then Tobacco products.
If lawmakers and anti drug people put as much time, money amd effort into fighting other illegal drugs as they do in fighting perfectly legal tobacco products then we might be more productive in combating illegal drugs.
Now - Why ban cigars??? Because they stink. Move away!!!
I've said this for a long time and I'm curious to see what others think. When lawmakers need money what is the first thing they tax? Tobacco products mainly cigarettes. SO lawmakers may claim they want people to quit but they really don't... Non-smokers will be upset because their taxes would sky rocket.
Next: What's going to happen when more places start banning outdoor smoking in public? It's going to end up in the supreme court and the smokers are going to win. It's legal and it shouldn't be against any law to smoke outdoors.
I know I won't win best answer but I just had to vent

New Comments:
Many of you say it's bad for our health. It leads to diseases, etc, etc, etc... Well according to the new comprehensive cancer study most everything we do is bad for us.
So eating fast food, french fries, red meat, fish, skin lotions, deoterants & anti-persperants, and the list goes on... Even too much sun - the most natural thing on earth. All this causes cancer.
Where do you draw the line? If it's bad for us we should make it illegal. Again, Where do you draw the line?
Ask yourself this: How did your parents or their parents live without all of these laws and guidlines?
If your happy - you only live once, enjoy it!

YES! I really think cigars should be banned as the consituents of cigar are very harmful to health.Cigar smoking is a lot like eating food and drinking alcohol. The risk of eventual disease is related not only to what you consume, but how much you consume. Eating a hamburger with French fries and a Soda is unlikely to lead to disease. What leads to poor health and eventual disease is eating that same meal every day for a period of many years. So, for example, while heavy alcohol consumption can give rise to various diseases, moderate alcohol consumption may have no effects, or even beneficial effects on health. Those who smoke 1-2 cigars per day will likely experience lesser negative effects than those who smoke 4-5 cigars per day. Plus, many cigar smokers report that sitting and enjoying a fine premium cigar provides them opportunities for regular diversion from the stresses of life, time to reflect and refocus, relaxed social activity with friends and family, and a satisfying intellectual activity consistent with an engaging hobby. So friends it's up to you to
judge whether smoking is good or bad.

Cigars won't be banned because there are way to many people in the country in power that smoke them...Also if there were to be a ban on cigars, the Dominican influence in Washington would have their people parked on the white house lawn puffing churchills till it looked like a 5 alarm fire.
And for those of you that didn't know, over 75% of the quality cigars in the country come from the Dominican Republic...and 35 to 40% of them are rolled with Cuban seed.
I like them myself.

NOOOO!! Absolutely not! I quit cigarettes cold turkey a couple of weeks ago. i smoke about 2 little stogies a day now and my lungs feel much better than before. I don't inhale them but i get the taste and the nicotine. I could never have gone this long w/out smokes if it weren't for those yummy little cigars. Cigarettes are worse because I inhale them WAY more.

No, same concept as making all cars top out at 50 mph, driving fast is dangerous. That is not something the government should have a right to force on people. Kinda like seat belts, although I always wear mine, I would prefer not to when I am not feeling well because of the pressure on my stomach. I don't have this freedom though because I would get fined.

Cuban cigars were [and still are] 'officially' banned in the US - as part of the trade embargo. I assume there's a thriving black market in them - course they're rolled on the thighs of panting, sultry virgins, which must be the main attraction.

This probably won't get me the best answer but, NO.
We've already banned smokers from irritating us in enclosed environments with their smoke, banning people's free will to indulge in what they like at risk of hurting themselves is a touch too far.
What next, ban McDonalds cos it makes people fat?

No. I personally believe that if something grows out of the ground, you should be allowed to smoke it unrefined.
I do think you shouldn't be allowed to smoke around children, or other places where it's inappropriate. But I see no reason to ban smoking in bars or outdoors.
