The graduation is in a couple of weeks and I don't have a clue what to get him. I want it to be nice...but not outrageously expensive. I don't mind spending some money, but don't want to go into debt either.

Roaring...I like your idea of the major golf course pass, but my nephew is a member of the PGA. As I understand it, that means he can play on any major golf course for free. Is that true?

Ah, golf course management - its a field that not a lot of people think of, when deciding on a major, but it can actually be really lucrative once you get to a certain level of your career and, for people who are interested in it, extremely enjoyable.

I like the idea of getting him a golf-related gift, but make it something really nice and a bit unusual - not your typical golf shirt, if you know what I mean.

If he's really into golf and golf courses, you could (well, what do you mean by "not outragiously expensive?") get him some play time at one of the elite golf courses nearish to you, and maybe a lesson with a good pro - an elite level player who maybe played the circuit, and teaches there. One of the guys here at work is very, very into golf, and when he goes on vacation, he travels to the elite courses and plays. Often, this requires a reservation at least a year in advance, and it's not very cheap, so your nephew probably can't really afford it yet. It could be a very nice gift. And if you can afford it, you could send him further afield, and get him airfare/hotel, etc. Hilton Head, or, if you're really in the dough, Scotland. Scale the gift up or down until you're comfortable with the expense, but make sure it's one of those elite courses, someplace he'd normally never go himself.

If that's not a good fit, you could get him one very nice golf club - you'd need to talk to him, surripticious-like, to find out what he thinks is the best, and then get him one, to start off his future set. I do believe you can have the handle engraved, so that'd add to the niceness.

Money is always apprecaited because they are trying to get started and can always use cash. However, if you don't like that, it's understandable. There's also the idea of going to a golf store around his home and getting him a gift certificate for something he might want. Or a clothing store and helping him get his "post college" wardrobe started.

Generic gift ideas:
Nice frame (for his diploma or for a photo)
new wallet
some stock
luggage (might want to see if he has any and match it if pieces are missing)
nice duffle bag
briefcase
business card holder
leather portfolio
shaving kit
bookends

And you can always ask his parents for ideas. They might know of something he wants.

Im nevertheless using my commencement money to help me pay charges on an identical time as I seek for a job. that's been a existence-saver so I recommend money or a present day card on your nephew

Some really nice golf equipment, or one particularly nice piece that he will have for awhile. Ask his friends or family what he would really like.
