If not then I have a miracle birth! How long is gestation period as it is about 6 weeks since my last male molly went to the great fish tank in the sky?? I have a few fry in the tank (reducing by the minute) so something has 'taken place'.

no i dont think the mollies and swordtales can mate. though mollies can have 3 birthings off of one matting. i have 2 female black mollies and one is about to give birth to her second fry and the other is starting to show signs of pregnacey again. and if you want to keep your fry you need to separate them from the adults.

No Swordtails and Mollies cannot reproduce together. They are of a completely different genus it would be like cats and dogs reproducing. Swordtails can however have babies with platies and mollies can have babies with Guppies. Livebearers can stay pregnant from one mating for up to 6 months.

They'll mate eventually. Just feed them a variety of foods, mixing it up from pellets, flakes, freeze-dried, frozen, live, etc. If you have a heater in the tank, try and increase the temperature by 1-2dF. And once they acclimated and been conditioned, then you'll probably start seeing something. If you don't want to get another tank, just get decorations/plants so when they start having babies, the babies will have something to hide and so that not all of them will be eaten by the bigger fish in the tank.

remember what they say about livebearers. they say that one mating can result in several spawnings because the females can store the sperm in their bodies for several months
