It is a sidewards heart. It is commonly refered to as an "emoticon". They are "pictures" make from text to show an emotion. Some of the better know include:
:-) a smile
;-) a wink
:-P sticking your tongue out (sarcastic)
:-X and the ever popular kiss
(You have to look at them sideways to see them)

it´s a heart but for the other side!!!! it means love for something or someone,if you send it to any friend of yours it means that you love him/her,dont needs to be a boyfriend can be a female friend or best friend!!!!!!!
